On the way out, I asked the XM execs how to get a copy of the Loft Session recording, but they said they never make them available because it would be too complicated to deal with the artists on that issue....(not that I am sure Ryan would mind). Too bad....I'd love a recording of it having been there...
Thanks for posting those links....I can't figure out how to download some of them (like the Livingroom audios which I am listening to now), but what gems! I have long hoped he would put out a live album, and this essentially scratches that itch. His studio sound is great, of course, but there is nothing like his down to earth/off the cuff/self-deprecating realtime commentary to make it true Matthew Ryan. |

It is hard to get in touch with them, but I'll try to find out when they are rebroadcasting it.... |

I absolutely agree....never cared for Get On Your Boots (U2) until I saw it on tour, and though Hurricane Weather is not one of my favorite Ryan songs, his live acoustic version with Molly's violin is just soulful....like so much art, understanding its origins, framing the context, gives so much more depth to your appreciation of it, and from that point on, you always experience it in a more nuanced way than you originally did....I am thinking about Gone for Good, Irrelevant, Skylight... |
