Matthew...Could you please answer my question about "Jane, I Still Feel The Same", i really wanna know, if that doesn't mean any problem to you at all. It would mean a lot for me.

John,

It's about a real situation(s). More of a hybrid of a few situations. But one girl's name was Jane.

Ah, i see...I thought that Jane was like some girlfriend of yours who died and you never had the real time to change the feeling, for some reason i cannot stop thinking about how sorrowed your songs are meant to be, so i always figure the worst. So basically, you are saying that the song talks about a mix of situations that happened in Your life, right?. I'm sorry if i didn't get it right.

No worries! I deal with loads of spammers so know how annoying they can be... Especially these ones, you'd think they had better things to do at the moment: http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/2011/mar/17/us-spy-operation-social-networks Smile

And on the new social media front; it's a shame.
Messageboards are a bit technologically creaky and, more often than not, a bit fighty. But they are a Community, and you don't get that same sense with Facebook and (especially) Twitter, which are both great fun but a lot more insular because ultimately they're all one person with their friends agreeing with them. With boards, it's a bit more chaotic and - given the right people and level of respect - a lot more fun.

Fingers crossed that the new album brings everyone back to the fold, and we can all argue about what is important on messageboards: music, world affairs, and what biscuit is better than the other ones Smile

I don't get it, for me Facebook, Twitter, and Forums like this are quiet useless and create more problems than solutions. The only special about this one, is Matthew itself. But you got a point, you can discuss seriously important issues and pointless without any textual violence.

Did you say new album? Matthew will release some new material? Or you are just speculating? I know that he has made a new song with Hammock "Like New Year's Day". It is quite good. You should check it out.

Already checked out the lovely Hammock EP (nice to get the runtime to exactly 20:11!), and I may as well put out a cheeky plug for my review of it here. Sure I saw somewhere that new album is late summer-ish...

On the uselessness of messageboards in general, here's a couple of things that make them utterly wonderful given the right circumstances and the right people...

1. At the moment, me and a bunch of friends who met through the same MB over the course of the past 7 years (some from the start, some from very recently) are about to send one card around the world to each other that will ultimately arrive with another messageboard friend who is going through very hard times right now and we thought we'd cheer her up. This card will go through at least 5 European countries before going to Australia and Argentina and then up to and through lots of bits of North America before coming back to Europe providing it doesn't go missing!

2. From the same board, two people from different continents who met up there thanks to one single shared interest and who would never have even known that the other existed otherwise, will be getting married in the Summer.

I appreciate that these are probably the exceptions that prove the rule, but brilliant things can happen anywhere Smile

I think i Must agree on this one. Of course, i know that thanks to the internet itself a lot of people meet and find love and etc. But also on the other hand, a lot of people do exactly the opposite, sick twisted people love to use the internet for their own evil necessities. So, i think, that there is no straight answer, whether the internet it is useful or useless. It is a reflection of human attitude, another of the ten thousand of reflections that human has in society. Witch is kind of funny and boring of course, we never learn. Even in a fantasy media, or a fantasy reality. We are what we are.

There will be a new solo album shortly. It's almost done. It's beautiful. Also, Hammock and I are working on a full-length. That's coming along quite well too.

As far as the site goes, I'll make an effort in the coming weeks to direct more people here. There will be a site overhaul shortly that may aid in a fuller engagement with this site. I love the idea of building a more direct community.

Awesome. Thank you very much for the information.

Hey Matthew, did you happen to make a cover for a song made by Greg Dulli?. I think his music is really similar to yours. It is one heck of an artist.

That'll be Slide Song that appeared on the Summer's Kiss tribute album to the Afghan Whigs, which also features Mark Lanegan, Joseph Arthur and My Jerusalem among many others. A great album and well worth getting if it's still available.

Which brings me to a question of my own: didn't Matthew do something for a My Jerusalem record?

Oh, cool, i will check it out, altough i don't like "The Slide Song" from The Afghan Whigs, i think there are better song like "Get The Wheel" "King Only" "Down the Line" and "That's Just How That Bird Sing" that could fit with Matthew's voice and make an amazine cover or even a better version of the song. Thanks for the Info.
