Well, sincerely, I knew Matthew's music only few weeks ago, when I heard about this Italian show......., so I'm not so found of his songs.....
First of all, excuse my english, I'm italian, and here I live.........
Obviously the show was focused on his latest album (the best, I.M.O.), and lasted one hour and half....
Matthew is exactly as you can immagine him: sincere, spontaneous, genuine; with a great voice and a very good guitar playin'... He was all alone, on the stage, but none in the crowd, missed the band, 'cause he's so overalling......
He left the stage soon after the end of the first song , and decided to play the whole show, right between the crowd, in the middle of the audience!!!!
I was very surprised when he saw I was wearin' my jacket, to left the cafč, and asked (infront of all the crowd): "Where were we goin'??" Embarassed is the right word, for what I felt!!!!! I explained we were goin' home: "70 miles to go, 4 hours to sleep!!!!". He told he was very pleased we traveled so many miles to listen to him, and dedicated the next song to our "drivin' home........"
This is the measure between a genuine artist, and a star......, but he's both!!!!!
Thatīs why I wanted to be there. Thought it was gonna be a special venue. Wasnīt wrong.
Youīre right, man, probably M.R. is not a rock star (sure not willing to be) but his songs should be hits all around the world. Theyīre not. Thatīs what gives us the chance to get to him at small venues and live the experience of his genuine and wondeful music. Iīd rather he was a worldwide star because he deserves the whole entire world knows about him, but until then...
Canīt agree with you. Donīt think MRVSS is his best work. Love almost every M.R. song, sorry.
