Do you guys happen to still have all of the tabs from back in the day off the old message board? There were several posts from a user named MikeBerry. Those tabs were spot on, and I always enjoyed doing a little strumming and picking to my favorites. Would love to get my hands on those again....

Hope all is well,

Derek from Shreveport

I could never find very many guitar tabs online, so I transcribed some songs for my friends and I to play. This is a particular favourite. Perhaps Matthew can chime in and tell me how close it is. Wink

ME AND MY LOVER by MATTHEW RYAN

CAPO

Am

F-----------C---------G---------------Am
-It’s early morning,---It’s early January
F-------------------C------------------------------------G
-There’s always something,-- that’s comin’ or gone
F-------------C----------G--------Am------F
-Out in the dark light,---I go walkin’
F----------C------------------------G
-Into the quiet,---of this holy mess

Chorus:

-----Am------------------------C-------------------F
But me and my lover,---we told each other
F------------------G--------------------------F
Wherever you are,---that’s where I’ll be
--------------------Am
That’s where I’ll be

F-----------------C------------G---------------Am---------F
-A head full of newsreels,--makes it impossible
F-------------------C----------------------------------G-------F
-To ignore your number in some magic black box
F------------------------C--------G------------------------Am--------F
-I guess I’ve grown weary,---And yeah, I’ve concluded
F-------------------C------------------------------G
-That nothing is sacred, as long as you’re bored

Chorus:

-----Am------------------------C-------------------F
But me and my lover,---we told each other
F------------------G--------------------------F
Wherever you are,---that’s where I’ll be
--------------------Am
That’s where I’ll be

F / C / G / Am / F / C / G

F------------------C------G--------------------------Am------------F
-Sweet mother Mary,---So many say they’ve seen you
F------------C--------------------------G
-But if I’m shown,--I promise, I’ll lie
F----------------------------C-----------------G
-Cause most things are meaningless
--------------------------Am--------------F
-The more you get to know them
F---------------C------------------------G
-Down here, love’s the only gun I trust

----Am-------------------------C--------------------F
So me and my lover,---we told each other
F------------------G------------------------F-------------------------Am
Wherever you are, that’s where I’ll be, That’s where I’ll be
-------------------C-------G-----F
That’s where I’ll...be,---I’ll be
-------------------C-------G-----F-----------Am
That’s where I’ll...be,---I’ll be

(If posting full lyrics is a problem, let me know).

I'm looking for the tab to Dulce et Decorum Est, off the new album. I realize that most guitarists could probably figure it out by ear, but I'm not that good. Any one able to help?

Hi Derek,

I had most of them archived on an old machine but can't seem to find them. So I went searching and came up with this.

http://web.archive.org/web/20050223203144/www.altcountrytab.com/modules.php?name=artist&pa=show&aid=306

Not all of them are active, but mostly they are online and available. Got some good old ones in there Smile

Guilty

Matthew Ryan

(Matthew Ryan)

From "May Day"

transcribed by Mike Berry

[G] [Em*] [C] [Em] [G] X2
[G]Here comes the razor of doubt, [Em]here comes the falling out
[C]Here comes the wave and the turn, [Em]here comes the [D]crash and the burn
[G]Here comes I'm sick of crying, [Em]here comes man I quit trying
[C]Here comes I hate you and I'm [Em]giving back all that you [D]gave to me
[G] [Em*] [C] [Em] [D]
[G]Here comes the baited hook, [Em]here comes the bones that you shook
[C]Here comes the dread and denial, [Em]here's where you've [D]been all the while
[G]Here comes I'm sick of groveling, [Em]here comes the only thing that ever happens
[C]Here comes I hate you and I'm [Em]giving back all that you [D]gave to me
Cause [G]lately I've been dreaming of angels and cranes
In [Em]some kind of purgatory dodging the CIA
With a [C]head full of soot, waving black flags
[Am]Throwing off the bodies just to cut down the drag
[G]Take 'em to the desert or take 'em to a dried up well
[Em]Tell 'em they're in heaven and mutter "Welcome to hell."
I've been [C]guilty, guilty, I've been [Am]guilty , guilty of all these [G]things
All these[Em*] things [C] [Em] [D]
[G]Here comes the razor of doubt, [Em]here comes the falling out
[C]Here comes the wave and the turn, [Em]here comes the [D]crash and burn
[G]Here comes I'm sick of groveling, [Em]here comes the only thing that ever happens
[C]Here comes I hate you and I'm [Em]burning all that you [D]gave to me
(Repeat chorus)
I need [G]someone to save me
Someone to save me
I need [Em]someone to save me
Someone to save me
I need [C]someone to save me
Someone to save me
I need [Am]someone to say to me that everything is gonna be [G]alright
[Em*] [C] [Am] [G] [Em] [C] [Am] …..to fade

[Em*] merely indicates some augmentation of the chord, as follows:

[Em]…….. [Em7]….…. [Em add B]

Watch Your Step

Matthew Ryan

(Matthew Ryan)

From May Day

transcribed by Mike Berry

capo up 1
Intro: [Em] [G] [D] [C] X 2
Well you sent me [Em]running
For cover, deep in those [G]dark and lonely hallways of my [D]heart
and there were problems
You said there was something [C]wrong with me
And they were deep-[Em]seated, they were deep-rooted
I must've pushed 'em [G]away, I pushed 'em away
So you left with the [D]impression that if I could just clear my head
You'd be [C]back with me one day
But [Em]now you walk the roads with a [G]rose in your teeth
Walking arm in [D]arm with him, it's hard to believe
that I'm the [C]furthest thing from your mind
Well if those [G]dark clouds haven't come [D]rolling in yet
[Em]Come on baby you know [C]better than that
In[G] life there's a lot of [D]high grass and [Em]deep wet sand
You just [C]trudge through the best that you can
And remember [C riff --- see below---is repeated x 3]
To watch your [G]step [D] [Em] [C]
Watch your [G]step [D] [Em] [C]
[D]You can take it on the [G]run now babe
Cause you'll [Em]throw it away, you'll [C]throw it away
[D]You can take it on the [G]run now babe
Cause you'll [Em]throw it away, you'll [C]throw it away
[D]You can take it on the [G]run now babe
Cause you'll [Em]throw it away
Just like you threw me [C]away
Just like you threw me [G]away
Just like you threw me [D]away
[Em] [G] [D] [C] X 2
Well if those [G]dark clouds haven't come [D]rolling in yet
[Em]Come on baby you know [C]better than that
In [G]life there's a lot of [D]high grass and [Em]deep wet sand
You just [C]trudge through the best that you can
And remember [C riff ---see below]
To watch your [G]step [D] [Em] [C]
Watch your [G]step [D] [Em] [C]
[D]You can take it on the [G]run now babe
Cause you'll [Em]throw it away, you'll [C]throw it away
[D]You can take it on the [G]run now babe
Cause you'll [Em]throw it away, you'll [C]throw it away
[D]You can take it on the [G]run now babe
Cause you'll [Em]throw it away
Just like you threw me [C]away
Just like you threw me [G]away
Just like you threw me [D]away [Em]

[C riff] = -----0-----0-----0-----0------0------0------------------------

Irrelevant

Matthew Ryan

(Matthew Ryan)

From "May Day"

transcribed by Mike Berry

I saw Matthew play this song. He uses only three chords….all variants on an E chord.
He's so damn talented that he doesn't need to use a whole bunch of fancy-schmancy
chords like a lot of other songwriters do.
Capo up 1
E= 022100 E/A= X02100 E/F#=202100 (or try it like this 202200….can't decide which I prefer)
[E] [E/A] [E/F#] [E] [E/A] [E/F#]
There's only [E]one light on in the house
And that's the [E/A]light up in the hall
And it's [E/F#]shining on the back of my head
And I'm [E]concentrating hard on the [E/A]cigarette
To the ashtray from the [E/F#]ashtray back to my lips
So I[E] lean up from my easy chair
I [E/A]rub my three-day beard
[E/F#]And give that thousand yard stare
As I re[E]call all the time and [E/A]money we [E/F#]spent
Before I became irrele[E]vant [E/A] [E/F#] [E] [E/A] [E/F#]
So the [E]strawdog threw rocksalt
And the [E/A]precious girl took a bow and walked
[E/F#]As I ran my finger over the screen door
Yeah [E]every kiss has reeked of betrayal
Since my [E/A]heroine jumped the guardrail
And [E/F#]decided who she wanted to be once more
Now [E]every night I'm paralyzed
By the [E/A]fear of rope burns and morning light
[E/F#]And the smell of wet cement
Since I became irrele[E]vant[E/A] [E/F#][E][E/A][E/F#]
Now [E]memory is just a flash flood
A [E/A]thick and black sticky mud
And [E/F#]heartache it's like a breaking bone
It was always[ E]twelve hours on a missionary line
[E/A]I think I would've spared some time
But I didn't [E/F#]I never went home
Now it [E]occurs to me like blinds undrawn
Or a [E/A]bullet from a shotgun
[E/F#]That she knew long ago what it meant
To feel irrele[E]vant [E/A] [E/F#]
Now I'm [E]always smilin' [E/A]cryin'
And hidin' my in[tent
Since I became irrele[E]vant
[E] [E/A] [E/F#] repeat X 3….end with [E]

intro: G C G G (2x)
G C G
It's not the things that I can't change, that bother me

or the balancing wire that broke, that throws me

It's not the fact that you walked out, that bewilders me

It's not the sleep that I can't steal, that wires me

It's not the coffee or the pills

it's not this space that I can't fill that kills me

CHORUS:

It's not the drunks and their devices, that provoke me
It's not the politics of love and distance,
and all that that shit evokes in me
It's not the Sunday morning fights
or this soul on ice, that numbs me
It's not the passing of another Indian summer, that saddens me
It's not the shutter in the undertow, that bears down on me
It's not everything ending as it began
or the loneliness that grins that destroys me
CHORUS
